Running event “Biržai kilometers”

REGULATIONS

I. COMMON PART

Biržai Municipality, Biržų duona, UAB, and Lithuanian Running Cup organize the running event “Biržai kilometers” on 4 August 2018.

II. objectives and tasks

1. To continue the tradition to organize running events in Biržai and to blend into the team of organizers of great run races.
2. To develop relations with other towns organizing running events.
3. To promote running as well as track and field athletics in Lithuania and to encourage the involvement in running events.
4. To increase the participation of the residents of the town.
5. To promote running as a healthy lifestyle.
6. To discover the most fit runners in various age groups.

III. DISTANCES

Amateurs and professionals will have the possibility to compete in given distances:
21.0975 km;
10.5 km;
3.5 km;
Kids race.

IV. TIME AND PLACE OF THE EVENT

Start of 21.0975 km, 10.5 km, and 3.5 km – at 10:30 A.M. in Biržai near the central town square at Vytauto Street 7. Finish – at the starting location.

V. TIME LIMITS

1. 21.0975 km – 2 hours 30 minutes; 10.5 km – 2 hours; 3.5 km – 45 minutes.
2. The electronic system of time measurement will be turned off at 1:30 P.M. on the day of the event and time results will not be recorded after that.

VI. PARTICIPANTS

1. Anyone can participate in the competition. Participants take part in the event at their own free will and they accept all risks (including unexpected health problems, etc.) related to the competition and will have no legal claims in this respect to the organizers of the running event. Upon registration and when taking his or her bib number, the participant must have a personal identification document.
2. With registration to the event every participant authorizes that he or she gives all the rights to use still and moving images in which he or she appears for marketing purposes without additional permission of the participant.
3. Parents, guardians or coaches take full responsibility for participants under 18.

VII. SPECIAL TERMS AND RESTRICTIONS

1. Participants can register and take part in the race only under his/her own name. It shall be forbidden to give one’s own bib number to another participant. In such case participants will be disqualified and the results will not be included in the official competition results.
2. If a participant, who has already registered for the run race, wishes to change the distance to a shorter distance, the distance difference fee shall not be refunded. If a participant wishes to change the distance to a longer distance, he/she shall pay the entry fee difference as per the distance entry fee applicable on the date of payment.
3. Every participant of the competition must have a number fastened neatly on their T-shirt. The number has to be fastened on the front of the T-shirt to be clearly visible.
4. It is strictly forbidden for the participants and their supporters to use any kind of transport, e.g. bicycles, roller-skates, skate-boards and other wheeled vehicles during the race. In case of breaking this restriction the participant will be disqualified.
5. Participants are not allowed to have any personal escort during the race. In case of breaking this restriction the participant will be disqualified.
6. No animals are permitted on the course during the race.
7. Electronic chips are disposable; therefore, the organizers do not claim them back.
8. Any deviation from the set course (without permission of the judge) is prohibited. In case of breaking this restriction the participant will be disqualified.
9. Any possible claims must be submitted to the main referee of the competition in writing within 30 minutes after the termination of the competition, accompanied by a fee of 30 euros, which will be refunded if the claim is satisfied by the appeal commission (the director of the marathon, the main referee, a representative of the Athletics Federation). Claims are not considered unless the fee is paid.

VIII. CATERING ON THE COURSE

1. There will be a refreshment station equipped at the running track, where the participants of the competition will be served water.

IX. AWARDS

1. Winners of the running event shall be awarded prizes and tokens from the sponsors of the event.
2. 21.0975 km – a single group. Absolute winners shall be nominated among both women and men.
3. 10.5 km – 3 age groups:

  • M and F (born in the Year 1981 and younger)
  • M35 and F35 (born between the Year 1981 and the Year 1957)
  • M60 and F60 (born in the Year 1956 and older)

4. 3.5 km – a single group. Absolute winners shall be nominated among both women and men.
5. The participants, who have successfully finished the distance and have registered before 10th of July, shall be awarded the original commemorative medals of “Biržai km” running event.
6. The participants, who have successfully finished the distance and have registered after 10th of July, shall be awarded the original biscuit medals.

X. ENTRY FEES

21.0975 km (3.5 km x 6 circles)
Before 1st of June – 5 EUR
Before 4th of  July – 10 EUR
Before 4th of August – 15 EUR
On the running day, 4th of August, the registration will be closed.

10.5 km (3.5 km x 3 circles)

Before 1st of June – 5 EUR
Before 4th of  July – 10 EUR
Before 4th of August – 15 EUR
On the running day, 4th of August, the registration will be closed.

3.5 (3.5 km x 1 circle)

Before 1st of June – 5 EUR
Before 4th of  July – 10 EUR
Before 4th of August – 15 EUR
On the running day, 4th of August, the registration will be closed.

Kids race
All kids (2-7 years of age) shall run free of charge.
On the running day, 4th of August, the registration will be closed.

XI. REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS AND ISSUANCE OF BIB NUMBERS

1. Participants may register online at www.birzukm.lt until 3rd of August inclusive. The online registration will be closed on 4th of August.
2. Participants shall pick-up their bib number at the tent on the competition day between 8.30 – 10.00 A.M. We kindly ask you to not leave it for the last minute.

XII. RACE ROUTE

Star and finish – Vytauto Street 7 near the central Biržai town square. The route extends on Vytauto Street, Kęstučio Street, along Širvėna Lake, Bielinio Street, and returns to Vytauto Street.
